Dual LCDs also have poor brightness since a lot less light gets through the two layers. That can be overcome by a much stronger backlight, which produces tons of heat that require active cooling.

yea it seems that microled is good at either being really big (110" TVs) or really small (VR headsets), but nothing in between yet.

It's not people recognition, it's just manually created tags by volunteers. Anyone can draw a box on any image and write whatever they want in it.

C++ is a funny chimeric creation that has absorbed some great modern ideas from Rust and other new language but needs to preserve compatibility with its antediluvian C heritage. You could write it in a very clean and somewhat safe modern st

On the other hand, the heavy use of aluminum parts resembles modern airplane interiors to some extent. Truly a great material, lightweight and strong.

There's plenty of comfortable travel even if you are in a hurry... If you can pay for it. Modern first class is pretty good and beyond that you could always fly private (I have only ever flown economy, though).

Generally, affluent people care more about not dying and therefore drive safer. Anecdotally, a lot of the worst drivers in the bay area are driving beaten-up Nissan Altimas, and indeed the data shows that Altimas are high up on the most dea

It's not that bad nowadays. Wind is the biggest source. [1] Also, switching trains from diesel to electric is still better than not doing anything at all. [1] https://www.cleanenergywire.org/news/renewables-cover-5

I have no idea what I would do if cheap GH200s started showing up on Ebay. They would probably need some crazy cooling and interconnect to get working. I guess it would be the ultimate "localllama" machine.

Nobody has developed that yet and OP might not have the skills to do so, but if an easy-to-install github repo were available then the lowered barrier to entry might make it possible. Theoretically, Teslas already know how fast every car ar

The new Model 3 is new and has lots of interior features not found in competitors' cars of the same price range (ventilated and heated rear seats, screen for rear occupants, ambient lighting, Autopilot as standard, etc).

I would rather take panel gaps and paint chips than faulty battery or motors. Most sources would agree that small cosmetic defects aside, Tesla has the quite good drivetrain and battery reliability. [0] https://www.consumerreport

Photo finishes are typically done with a line scan camera. It only captures a single column of pixels at a time. So the horizontal axis in the image is actually time, not space. Super cool stuff.

North American trains have a huge amount of level crossings, which, predictably, cause tons of accidents when oblivious drivers get hit by trains. Although most of the world considers high speed trains to be incompatible with level crossing

I really want a denser SSD to store my photo collection. My current small form factor PC has two NVME PCIe slots and no room for SATA drives. I have two 4 TB SSDs in there right now and it seems that consumer SSDs basically cap out at 4 TB.

Great minimalistic web design but it only has 65 mini pcs on it and doesn't have a lot of popular ones like the Minisforum ones or Lenovo Thinkcentres. So it is hardly the "ultimate resource for everything Mini PCs".
