"Talk me off the ledge" I don't get this. Do what you think is best for yourself and your family. What difference does it make what strangers on the internet think?

Sorry to hear. I was just laid off 3 weeks ago (3rd time I've been laid off during the last 10 years). It can be very stressful. Here's a tip from the book "How to stop worrying and start living" (Dale Carnegie): live in

This part bears repeating: "you can enroll in COBRA retroactively for some period of time".

I came to make same comment about Don Henley's song Dirty Laundry. The song sums it up perfectly. It's also a great song musically.

Brief is an understatement! For those who have never heard of Rexx, it was developed in either late 60s or early 70s at IBM. It is a powerful scripting language. I first encountered it in OS/2 where it was the default (built-in) script

Similarly, I have a hobby of restoring vintage and antique tools. Same observation regarding how disposable many modern items are.

That was my guess. However, couldn't they make new brown bottles out of old brown bottles? Maybe not big enough incentive to sort by specific colors.

What's the significance of the glass being clear? I'm guessing this means that green or brown glass is not recyclable. Why is that?

US stamps of today seem to be far less decorative (talking about the design on the stamp itself) than ones I've seen from days gone by.

Good point! And there are many fantastic film cameras from long ago. I just bought a Nikon F2 film camera (my second) yesterday. Many of those old film cameras and such a joy to shoot with.

You're right that material things can weigh you down. However, in the case of stamps they're probably one of the smallest and lightest physical items one can collect.

I completely agree on getting consent. Always! The only exceptions are when the subject is so far away that you can only tell it's a person, and cannot determine the identity of the person. Besides, it's all too easy to be perceiv

I would think that it largely depends on the age. I would agree with you for ages 3-9 years old and probably disagree for 12-18 years old, with the 10-11 year olds being a toss-up.

I generally agree with your comments. I did a fair bit of film photography (mostly B&W) decades ago. From digital photography perspective, I'm an average Joe who mostly takes snapshots with smartphone. I just wanted to make a comme

Two different things. Driving a farm truck on a rural road in Nebraska is very different from driving a tractor-trailer loaded in heavy traffic on the interstate.

Completely agree. Big rigs with full load can weigh something like 80,000 pounds (40 tons)! They're much more dangerous to begin with due to the size and weight. Add to that dangerous road conditions (fog, rain, ice, snow) and it'

True, but it says that the guy owns his own truck. Those are not inexpensive to pay for (purchase price, insurance, and maintenance). I can't imagine what it costs just to replace a few tires.
