Sorry to beat a dead horse, but please use "copyright infringement" or "unauthorized copying" instead of "piracy". Actual pirates commit or threaten physical violence, so this meaning-slippage is just propagan

Two wrongs don't make a right. Please don't use one travesty to justify another. Instead answer to yourself, why I should have any right to dictate the standards of the goods you may knowingly and willingly purchase, and particul

> If your serious about getting the government out, including out of copyright and patents, then let's talk. Until then, let's regulate these companies. I'm all for eliminating all government privileges and cronyism (which

Please no. Get the government and their violence out. No one has an inalienable right to APIs and such. You have the right to buy what you want. If the market is not serving you, then look in the mirror and pick your priorities.

"For some reason" there are temptations to addiction all around us, and alcohol is only one. We can't treat being human as merely a medical condition. Human cultures have adapted using shame as a tool.

Because kids want things does not mean that they are owed them. That's the difference. "I want it now!" by Veruca Salt is not reasonable way to interact with artists.

Problem drinking isn't due to marketing, and precedes modern marketing by ... millenia.

Wow, I have no sympathy for that driver. The sleazy beginning of that article, which glosses over the difference between drinking and drunk driving. If she doesn't like her passengers or what she's enabling, she should stop doin

My only real concern here is whether the manufacturer may be able to unilaterally _limit_ already-enabled hardware capabilities in the future. If they can do so without your express consent _at the time that the capability is downgraded_,

Independent of copyright law, people have a more fundamental right to contract as they wish. If people wish to pay less by allowing a lack of full control of hardware in their possession, then we shouldn't stop them. To assert otherw

Can't you just export the struct? Edit: Just tried it and ran into those difficulties. Julia structs appear to be treated as constants, and Revise.jl didn't help (for me).

There is a serious amount of diversity on the app stores, though. It's not as if you must use Photoshop, with zero alternatives.

I vaguely recall that you could get source code back in the 70s and early 80s, with early UNIX say or mainframe code, because the revenue was from the big machines. Technical reference manuals for the early IBM PC were awesome.

Of course get to know the candidate as much as possible before hiring, but if you had to pick your candidate based on a single number, you truly don't think IQ isn't way up there as one of the more usefully discriminating ones?

Milly should be able to keep or sell what she found, if it was her land. If a museum or government wants these things, then they can go find them themselves on their own land. This socialization of individual efforts is maddening.
