Yes! Thanks for the insight about the virtual DOM. I'm definitely not saying the virtual DOM is bad, or that JS is bad. But like you said, people are starting to mix pages and apps , thus also mixing the complexity requirements of e

One misconception about Hypermedia-driven applications is the belief that you can't / shouldn't use JS or other new technologies. You can create a Cloudflare Worker returning HTML[0], which you can call using HTMX in the fron

If you end up doing that, you may find: diff -rq useful. It lets you do a recursive "diff" comparing two folders, it also reports if a file is present in both folders but with different contents. I always use that command w

After reading some HTMX criticism, there's one point people seem to miss. Making HTML your application interface does *not* prevent you from having a JSON (or something else) API. If anything, it probably forces you to split your funct

HTMX (and HTML over the wire) is giving me some hope for frontend development. React / SPAs have their place and are great technologies, but 98% of the time they are not needed.

I have never used LiveView, but I'd love to see the web moving towards this kind of interfaces. HTML over the wire is powerful! The deep integration between all the parts (Phoenix, LiveView, the HEEx engine...) is nice, and compile-tim

This looks very nice, congratulations! I've been using HTMX [0], and I think having frameworks that let you have interactivity without having to write Javascript are very powerful. [0] https://htmx.org/

Really good article, I’ve experimented with this kind of workloads in SQLite a few times and found it insightful. One note though, using: pragma temp_store = memory; only affects temporary tables and indices, not the main database it

Not only for classification, fastText is really good (and fast) at language identification[0] To use fastText in Python in a scikit-learn style (also inside sklearn pipelines), I’d recommend trying skift[1] [0] https://ricardoand

I would say: 1. No network round trips 2. SQLite runs in the same process as your app, so reading from SQLite is basically like calling a function in your program (from a performance point of view).

Yes, I’m aware of DiskCache. Wonderful library and also very useful, I enjoyed reading the source code too. I have taken a few ideas from it that I would like to implement in the future.

I think replacing Elasticsearch with SQLite is a great idea. Even more if you use the full-text search functions that SQLite includes. I recommend checking out scout[0], which, I think, can be a good replacement for Elasticsearch in some ca
