My wife is an optometrist (so, an independent worker), and she needs to check the list of patients she has seen (and the types of care they were given) to make sure that it matches correctly with the clinic's records. It is a tedious j

A colleague of mine is dating a local influencer. She is well enough known that they get stopped on the street on a semi-regular basis. About a year back, an air carrier gave her two plane tickets, a stay in a high-end hotel for 1 week (or

I have found it surprizingly difficult to categorize my files in a way that is elegant and intuitive. I've been meaning to look into FUSE for a tagging-based system instead of the current hierarchical one, although I suspect that the d

If anyone has some background in optimization and is interested in the more technical side of things, I gave a talk at JOPT 2023, comparing MIP and CP approaches for this problem. The slides can be found here: https://github.com&

The number of variables is not constant in each step so modeling this would be trickier than usual. I feel like there is probably an more efficient DP approach for this though.

Well done! My CP formulation is definitely not the best here. I put this model together late one night while drinking a few beers :)

All my CP-related blog posts show a step-by-step formulation of the model. Here is an example showing my thought process while modeling the generation of crossword grids using CP (note that this is substantially more complex than the Domino

No I haven't, but in our case CP-SAT works very well and license-wise it's free.

I think that you've misunderstood what I said. For large instances of this specific problem (and when the time limit is too short to allow either CP-SAT or CPLEX to prove optimality) the best integer feasible solution found by CP-SAT i
