My wife is an optometrist (so, an independent worker), and she needs to check the list of patients she has seen (and the types of care they were given) to make sure that it matches correctly with the clinic's records. It is a tedious job, something that takes about 20 minutes per day. With a little scripting, I was able to bring that down to about 5 minutes per day. The time I saved her has added up to several dozens of hours now, and will amount to several hundreds of hours saved as the years go by.
