If im not mistaken, Azure went down recently in one region for a wooping 24 hours. That's pretty scary for anyone having at least three nines SLA

After amazon switched to ec2/sec kind of billing in 2017 i would say cloud is pretty good for prototyping and running CI. As to anything else i would say it depends.

Issue is, this works only for very simple systems. With complexity comes maintenance and operations. You also cannot build anything innovative in case of heavy load systems because you cannot embbed your custom highly performant solutions (

Its missing a part about high frequency logging. Something like "log level checks should take only a single clock cycle" Looks more like a dev env best practices or apps with low traffic best practices

I found it a good practice to create a custome thread factory which translates the request identifier to be appended to the log. Its actually really easy to filter out everything connected only to that identifier after that. Tho it may be c

So we instead of spending more money on education in those places, censor the shit out of everything remotely questionable. That sounds like a good long term solution!

So instead you chose to still have to customize deployments and network setup. Alot more complex security config to do things seemingly "fast". Is that company a start up ? If not it will cost them alot later on..

Its not about the age of the engineers but maturity. Some just dont care about quality of their work because they get paid either way. Look at Silicon Valley, "ageism" is real there. They need young devs with ideas and huge skill

First - always think whether monolith would solve your problems. Second - would mixed architecture solve my problems ? Third - would microservices solve my problem better? Not every company has to be a Netflix or Zalando or Google... I thin

This reason alone is tragic enough to NEVER use Chrome. And of course it has a complete garbage resources management which can be easly tested by opening few hundred empty tabs.. (mostly freezes whole OS around 180-270 tabs on modern deskto

I often compare that to the professional approach of picking correct tool to solve a problem. If client doesnt need extensive security i would strongly advice him to make compromises to push his product out faster. Professionals should put

Im surprised there were no changes to the default git diff and merge tools. This is one of the first things i do on a new setup, to chane them to use "meld".

Thanks for this post. Gives more than enough reasons not to use security.txt. Having it in a place which requires human interaction to form a contract makes more sense. Cant automate that.

I would say the number of bugs increases, because ASA you push stuff out there is never enough time to refactor and fix. Because well.. too many ppl think it "does not bring money"

There is only one issue with that thinking. Till people who directly profit from destroying environment can lobby our democratic system, we cant do anything with big enough influence. We would have to introduce totalitarism lead by Gandalfs
