I think current gigs want younger people not for their performance but their „price”. They work overtime without payment, are relatively cheap and you need alot of them. For every architect you have in the company there are like 20-30 devel

IMHO, its a beginners guide and the focus on networking was to make beginners understand basic concepts - heavy focus would mean the guide would explain how k8s networking works under the hoods which is often important in real production en

Im managing 20000 vcpus infra both k8s and plain vms. IMHO there is no big difference there. It all depends on the tools you are using around orchestration. In my experience having good sysadmins is still the key to best infrastructure man

But mostly you are not responsible for those components or are using hardware solutions which are 1000 times more efficient/performant ?

When you are coming from old sysadmin world and you mastered unix systems architecture and software - what k8s does is very straightforward because its the same you already know. K8S is extremely complicated for huge swarm of webdevs and ja

There is still CD Project Red which seems to be the last bastion of DRM free games. I hope Activision (aka Tencent) will never buy them out. China is a cancer also in gaming industry.

You still completely missed the point again, which convinces me this discussion has no sense. We were not discussing the live conditions back then and now but how much you had to work for your land lord vs for yourself. Disparity is huge...

There is a lot of shallow talking in what you said because things are not black/white. And yes I can change the company I work for also reducing workdays amount but that will directly make my life unsustainable and I dont have an optio

When we are discussing in the context of “how much work i have to put in for someone else vs how much for myself” - my point still stands. Peasents had to work for their feudal lord a lot less than I for example have to work for company sha

Thats not exactly true, actually our ancestors rested a lot more than we do now. The same myth is that serfdom is/was worse than 9-7 office work.. when in fact you could work 1 day for someone else and 6 days for yourself. Now you work

This is widespread unfortunately. Developers changed to „users” and no longer pursue the details of solutions. Im not gonna say its the dominant behaviour in the field right now, but I see it more and more often on various experience levels

Because its a distributed system and it takes time to propagate ?? I think its very well known, ppl just understand its normal and in 99.999% of cases does not matter.

There are so many plain wrong points here I simply dont know where to start. It feels like the person who wrote it has no real commercial experience or very little experience with described services.

First response is often generated by automat. A generic one “hello this is X ill take care of your case” and the next real person response can happen the very next day when the ticket urgency is CRITICAL. Thats hilarious. The best support I

For example - metrics-server provided by AKS from the go is running in highly insecure manner. If you want to change that -> you cannot because they have automatic tools to keep bugging you out. Another - constant disconnections of PV..

To be honest we are heavly using EKS and AKS in other teams and each of those teams has a dedicated devops subteam to help them not only with k8s but also other infrastructure because bare k8s is pretty useless for business. So either way y

Azure AKS is pretty terrible TBH in comparison to GKE. Also lack of SLA / shady SLA does not help. Ps. Talking as someone with hands on experience. Ps2. Azure support is terrible and their response times are constantly breaking SLA..
