I had (well still sort of do, but that's a whole other story) a co-founder for the first couple of months. He's a non-technical person, so he didn't contribute any code. He mostly contributed with product guidance and some design / UX stuff

My first commit was on June 25, 2010. So, 37 from first line of code to launch. I was still working a full time job at the same time, so it was coded during nights and weekends only. There were very few costs durting that period other than

The company was profitable pretty much from day one. We don't have a free tier, so all of our customers are paying customers. We made sure that our initial pricing structure ensured that, in almost all cases, the users at least covered thei

I'm really excited about the new Shake Shack. I went there when it opened and there was at least a 45 minute line. If it winds up being anything like the one in Madison Square Park, it might only be a place worth visiting if you've got a lo

I've been using the route53 gem ( https://github.com/pcorliss/ruby_route_53 ). It's not a GUI and it's not perfect, but it's better than nothing.

Hate to do a me too post, but I'm going to anyway. I made a very similar app for a weekend project back in early march of 2009. http://www.fileinaflash.com I used TFTP as the transfer protocol and it's not encrypted like Sendoid, but it w

I got kind of lucky here because my company grew out of the failure of my old employer. They basically ran out of money and sold themselves to a very large company. That company didn't want a subset of the users, so we offered to purchase t

For those of you who have reached this milestone: 1) What type of business model did you use? (SaaS, ecommerce, etc.) 2) How long did it take to get there after launching? 3) What was the biggest hurdle you faced in getting there? 4) How ma

That does make sense, and if that is the way it works, that's the way it works. The name AngelList, at least from an entrepreneur's stand point, might be misleading then. It seems to me that AngelList is more of a list of potential start-up

I'm not really sure how Angel List works. I listed my startup a couple of weeks ago and it's had just 3 views. We don't have any "Social Proof" since we have been bootstrapping to this point. It feels as though Angel List has no utility unl
