Vice also doesn't have comments [0] on their articles. What other big venues do this (NPR, Atlantic, NJ.com are listed in the Inquirer article)? Or I guess many just embed Facebook comments or some other outside network and consider it

I don't really understand the point of this article as "redesigning the laptop." Nearly all of the things they mention is either software (e.g. better processing of mic input) or called a desktop (screens, noise, etc.). If pe

Very cool! Reminds me of the old days of ASCII art, I think I last saw it mostly on warez readmes (some really impressive ones) Edit: I love the combo of ray marching and fonts too [0], as previously seen on HN [1] [0] https://ww

I found it in a round about way too, could use some better publicity maybe. You can also use this to enable side-by-side 3D in VR, so like the old Nvidia 3D shutter glasses that made games pop out of a flat screen, you can see that in your

There will tend to be at least a little performance difference from Windows, but personally haven't tested it. I have an Index and it works great [0], though I really need a GPU upgrade (which is impossible these days, as others here n

As another commenter said, there are some nice all-in-one setups or minimal but sane defaults. I haven't used them but hear very good things. And don't forget you always have Evil for Vim bindings in Emacs (I think Spacemacs by de

Haha fair enough! Retro term definitely looks cool. (Of course could then use Evil in Emacs for Vim keys, or just run vim in a terminal inside Emacs...)

I hate when websites do that, especially since it is often when I'm trying to get to the footer for a link. Or when a story becomes another as you finish reading, changing the address at the same time. Awful.

Sure, but being able to use hardware controls is a big plus and opens up a lot more games. Touch screen controls can be okay, but I never found it great (the little I tried). (Edit: of course you could use a bluetooth controller, but for on
