YC usually says “a startup is the point in your life where tricks stop working”. Sam Altman is somehow finding this out now, the hard way. Most paying customers will find out within minutes whether the models can serve their use case, a ben

You’ve subtly confused “less accurate” and “smarter” in your argument. In other words you’ve replaced the benchmark of representing the base data with the benchmark of reasoning score. Then, you’ve asserted that was the original claim. Snea

I might regret saying this here, if it causes a negative change, but I find that a lot of the text materials YC and startup school have retain a lot of PG-era advice and can be a goldmine of wisdom. Most of the negative influence of post-PG

Why care whether something is AI slop or human slop? It’s not worth reading in either case. The arguments presented here look suspiciously like the arguments scribe classes of old used against the masses learning to read and write. Seems li

If this is what people imagine when they hear of whiteboard interviews, no wonder they hate them! What this was and what a technical interview is supposed to be could not be any more different. This interview reminds me of some experiences

Spotify is one of the worst at innovation. They pushed out the team that made discover weekly by downplaying their pioneering work while executives focused on “health integrations”, and they’ve now laid off some of their most creative peopl

Thanks, that's interesting to know! Although my comment was addressed to willmadden, and I think they just do not know what jurisdiction means.

It’s important to think not in terms of success or failure, but in terms of philosophy and mistakes. If you’re focused on the outcome there isn’t much you can improve on, the reasons for failure are many. Mistakes on the other hand stem fro

When you ask people online for advice, keep an ear to the ground and an eye to the door. There isn’t, and will never be, a substitute for thinking for yourself.

Correct, though you can essentially edit the 'decompiled' code directly at low level (then put it back into a binary), and for some languages this is even tolerable e.g. languages which compile to CIL. OP didn't do this, beca

Squid game reminded me a lot more of Liar game (the many variants) than a battle royale, though no one dies in the latter. I especially like the “minority rule” game.

Hey! Thanks for asking what I would do to make it better. First, of course, the karma system has to go - scoring can still exist without being visible and therefore pressuring people to be performative. In addition to that, I would adjust t
