It's generally not used to push policy affecting billions of people, though. But as I said in another comment, let's blame whoever listened to that garbage fire of a model, not the model itself. We don't listen to Minecraft m

Blame the politicians who listened to some random guy with some code instead of the random guy with some code himself.

Right now in France one doctor (professor Didier Raoult) has been mostly right about the whole thing (in my view), and he became popular thanks to YouTube. Yet his views are in radical opposition to both the French government and the WHO. S

Well, there is only one real "general purpose" OS that runs on supercomputers, mainframes, servers, laptops, tablets, mobile and embedded, and that's Linux. So it's also the most secure.

That page does not really offer any explanation. For all intents and purposes, firmware is like a key or a password you must supply to the device to make it work. The driver, which is indeed open-source, just says: "here, device, is th

I don't see how it aligns with their ethical standpoint. Firmware is just a blob you load into the device. The alternative is to have it already burned into ROM. What exactly do you achieve by refusing to load it? Are you more free in

This is absurd. I've worked on very successful SaaS (B2B, not B2C) that dominate their industry, it was started by a bunch of students writing shit in PHP, then got rewritten in Java at some point. That's it. Along the lines it pi

Generally it's not the drivers but the firmware for those devices, i.e. code that runs inside the device. I think it's an over-zealous position from Debian not to redistribute firmware. Even systems that are very strict about lice
