The domain was paid, the registrar took the money, but .io didn't renew it, because they need the renewal notice at least 3 days prior to expiry. It was a registrar screw up, but my main take away is: avoid .io like plague. See also:

They payed for the renewal in time. The registrar didn't forward it "in time", which is apparently a requirement from .io.

There are countries and providers where free phone data is facebook and maybe a few other providers - see internet.org . For them, facebook, witn instant articles, is the internet, having no actual data connection. Like it or not, the gene

Internet data connection might be mainstream, but Internet, as in websites, blogs, genuine, independent content, is really not. There are places where the internet is Facebook. I remember times when the internet was a blue E on the desktop,

I'm struggling to find genuinely fun content since the death of Flash. I truly miss sites like z0r.de. In general, I completely agree with the article.

I both agree and disagree. Yes, definitely think before publishing, even if it's meant to be "private", say a self-destructing private message, because anything can be saved somehow. On the other side, we change. Things that

Being able to fork in case of disagreements is a feature of open source, not a bug. Some of these forks get re-merged a few years later (see ffmpeg), others don't, but this is not bad at all. The ideal solution would be to build Caddy

It's really not, nor the web client, nor the provider, and the options are plenty, mentioned even in this very thread. Fastmail, self hosted iredmail, protonmail, etc., are fine providers. Geary, rainloop, macos mail, k9, are very nice
