That's true. I had a near 4.0 (one A-, gah) as a senior before I said "fuck this noise" and dropped out. I also had a family, was active in a couple campus clubs, and held a full time job as a developer. I was busy, but it's not impossible.

Do bloggers really have this problem? I have more drafts waiting to be finished than I have articles. I have too many ideas to execute them all. Am I alone?

I'm still just looking for a plugin that opens tabs the same way as Chrome does. If it weren't for the ecosystem of plugins that I rely on for FF, I'd have moved to Chrome already...

I don't understand this post. Some companies go a little too far in an effort to squeeze revenue from people. In capitalism "too far" isn't an aesthetic statement, it's a statement about the extra revenue per customer not making up for the

The model was built to fit the data, which isn't difficult. The hard part is getting it to predict anything, which this model has not.

I don't think it's really for google to make the kind of compromise the author is talking about, or wrestle with it. The reason is that google represents one side of the tension, and we the users represent the other. When people (like the a

I think we'll transition to more socialistic system when people begin to get desperate. It's that, or mayhem, and the people who aren't desperate are the very people who can buy reprieve from mayhem in the form of socialism. It'll be worth

Wait, this title is misleading. There's a huge difference between the crystalline fructose you can buy at good grocery stores and the High Fructose Corn Syrup manufacturers shove into every food they can. It's like saying water must be bad

I remember reading one of his rants from a while back, and it actually caught me off guard. I know quite a bit about javascript, but the way he was talking made me think I was perhaps missing the boat. I looked into what he was saying, and

Yeah, I agree with you. I didn't get into it in the article because I was trying to be succinct, but you're right.

It's funny, I was going to point out in the essay that I think the exact opposite of what you said above: You have to write to think, but just because you write, doesn't mean you've had big thoughts. It's necessary, but not sufficient.

I JUST wrote a draft of an essay that says essentially what this says: Writing is necessary to thinking, and reading doesn't cut it.

Recruiters exists because of two problems: 1) Programmers can't find all the jobs that are available 2) Companies aren't generally able to evaluate programmers But #1 is less and less true, and the recruitment industry doesn't do a good job

I was just working on some things, and my FTP disconnected. I pinged the VPS, it was gone, my control panel is gone, and even the main dreamhost.com site is down. Am I going nuts here?

So, the thing is that devs put their neck out for your stupid contest, and you screwed them because there wasn't enough interest. The reason there wasn't enough interest is that you failed to create it. You could have easily made it viral b
