I don't see how prefixing names with $ is a "smell". It's just a convenient way to differentiate jQuery objects quickly. sort of like "strVar" or "intVar".

This is interesting, but I'm not sure how practical it is. Has anyone ever tried this approach successfully?

This type of shit is endemic because there is no incentive for banking companies to play fair. They move money around with impunity. I hope they are all dismantled or at least muzzled.

Quite sure, hah. Peter and I had an e-mail exchange about 2 years ago when I first found his site. At first I was confused because I thought I had put up a site about javascript and then forgotten about it. I doubt we look similar, but that

The movie is actually quite depressing, but I was happy to find out after watching that the practice has, at least temporarily, stopped.

It's very strange, but despite having the same name, being from the same place, being around the same age (I think), and programming in mostly the same languages, Peter Michaux isn't me. Just for the record.

I would really like a transcript or synopsis of this. I couldn't find one via the link. Is one available?

So, instead of .5 * 1 does that mean we should waste .9 + .5 * .1 (90% plus 50% of the remaining 10%) or .5 * 1 + .5 * .9 (50% of everything plus 90% of the remaining 50%) ?

I thought this was going t be about productivity gains through idle time. It's actually about spending half your time self promoting. It's directed toward researchers, but it applies equally to anyone producing output. The point: do good wo

Once this matures it'll be incredible. I spent my childhood having various parts removed and replaced elsewhere on my body, to questionable effect. To be able to grow custom parts at will is huge.

I agree with part of what he's saying -- for some reason I've always had a problem with the word "sir." It struck me that people use the word Sir when they are artificially supplicating, or feining respect like "You, sir, are an idiot," or

We're going to see more and more of these articles popping up as cars become more automated. To me it doesn't matter what the rate of failure is on automated systems, as long as the rate is below human failure rate. In that case, we win. It

I don't get it. You can know fool google by stealing content, then rendering it jibberish to a reader. 1) Couldn't you do this before? 2) What is the point of doing this?
