Reading his bullet points, I am not sure why the correlation between daily stock market returns and air quality supports the argument that air pollution reduces IQ.

In some ways, they could be not only a driver of innovation, but profit off of it. For instance, the initial idea of spearheading Waymo makes sense to me: self-driving cars lead to more search queries and YouTube video views when someone is

Right now, it seems like none of the big guys provide interoperability on their password managers by design. Apple's works great for apps and Safari, but won't work on Chrome, Google only works on Chrome, Microsoft's doesn&#x

They’ve become the ultimate rent seeker, which wants me to believe it is signaling their demise in the near-term, but it probably means the opposite, they have the ability to leverage their monopoly.

You could say the same thing about Google and Facebook versus Twitter or Snapchat. Whatever strategies they did find and implement likely worked or were massively improved upon using the historic data the firm had on how to position quotes,

I believe the newer funds were created well after the original fund and were designed from inception to have a larger trading window. I’m sure you could commit fraud front running rebalances, etc, but not to the tune of $6B a year.

Well, it does in some ways. It makes it easier to pay employees in stock, which could be seen as an operating expense. A company could issue equity for financing at high prices like Shopify and Twilio did recently. Debt to equity is also us

Cable subs are going one direction, so it’s probably better to think about the other alternative mediums. These would be streaming services like Hulu, YouTube, Roku, digital billboards, and digital ad impressions through ad exchanges. All o

You can still target ads based on the type of show, time of day, and billboard location. I still don't believe you could have grad students look at every political ad, especially across all local elections. While the content of the ad

Yes, exactly. This is at least granular enough to see location, gender, type of message, etc. previously with TV or old media, we couldn’t access who politicians were targeting with ads. Now we can. I don’t see how this isn’t an improvement

The cream should eventually rise to the top. Political ads are now archived for anyone to scrutinize. If a politician kept releasing ridiculous ads, voters and the general public would likely know about the existence at least. Censoring ads

I have no view on Tesla's stock or Ark for that matter, but Tesla was a 12.5% position on 9/30 for them, and and 11% position for them as of yesterday. Even if they think Tesla could go to $2000/share, it doesn't make se

Having the US government act on citizen’s behalf would not be the mainstream view. If people felt that Tencent stood remove or reprimand the one executive who was out of line, they would be vocal in the press or with their wallets. I think

Given your money is tied up for 10 plus years and there’s a lot of leverage involved, you need to have a much higher hurdle rate to want to invest. Say 3.50% or more after fees.

With LBOs, much of the outperformance is due to leverage. If you could lever up the s&p 500, say 25%, you’d likely get much better returns. Because PE firms don’t aggressively revalue assets, they don’t have to face margin calls the sam
