So can anyone explain why this is a problem? Because it seems that some people just made a clever algorithm that didn't hurt anyone.

Right. Because as Clinkle has shown us, stealth companies raising massive rounds at gigantic valuations without any major traction works out well for everyone involved.

I find these type of studies so fascinating! By studying infants and toddlers we can truly get a sense of how truly "social" we are as animals and how we adapted to that fact by developing these subtle learning mechanism.

Hmm, also on x86 in order to be able to access more than 4 GiB of physical memory there was a new paging mode, Physical Address Extension, that makes the pages 4MiB in size, that might have affected that as well but I doubt it. However this

Yes, and the instruction cache becomes stale as well. I guess one way to avoid is to have 16 code blocks back-to-back and then to do a like a jmp into the section that contains the right register. JMP are pretty cheap, and the end point is

If one is willing to write self-modifying code, then it is possible to overwrite VEX.vvvv instruction encoding with the register select, so for example to select XMM0/YMM0 you'd have VEX.1111 (one's complement) or for XMM15&#

Right. However, AVX and SSE registers aren't just big 512-128 bit numbers. But rather arrays of bytes/shorts/ints/floats/doubles.

It's a trick from calculus, when you do an operation on a constant, that doesn't make it dependent on the variable, it is still a constant.

I don't know where you got those numbers from. Momentum of an object is equal to mass times velocity. Change in momentum is equal to impulse, which is force times time. Therefore f * t = mv, and change in v = f * t / m. Plugging i

I'd more interested in seeing a CUDA implementation. If they were able to get 100x baseline on the CPU, I'd expect the GPU implementation to be at least 1000x baseline as most tasks are "infinitely" parallelizable (row a
