Plus, most instructions are actually out-of-order on x86 (hence the out-of-order superscalar). So your "mov" will usually take (effectively) zero cycles -- unless there is a dependency. But compilers are usually smart enough to pi

Not exactly, most instructions are not "microcoded" for performance reasons. But there is a class of instructions that is.

asm("xorl %eax, %eax"); And I'm not sure about your example, a C pointer type would be stored as a number that will be used with "lea" or "mov [pointer], foo". Elaborate.

Thats funny because C is a one-to-one mapping over assembly. And frankly its not using any esoteric instructions such as "PUNPCKHQDQ" or "VFNMADD231PS"

I had a problem where fibers was working on v0.12.3 with two applications, and when I deployed a third one with the regular "npm install && forever start" deal I got a "package did not self-register" issue that w

Code is really not doing anything, it would be equivalent (in output that is) to he following code with some sort of optimization. unsigned short data[8] = {0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}; for(int i=0;i<8;i++) { data[i] += 0xff1; } for(

And so does CUDA, which usually out-performs OpenCL, plus the tooling for CUDA is just so much better with the Visual Studio integration.

I'm not exactly sure what is the fascination with these blocky-looking, dumbed down, drag-and-drop languages that look the same? First code that I wrote was in QBASIC at age 10 (I'm 19 right now), which I found to be very accessib

I recently started programming more using promises and I can say that I am very satisfied with the way it does away with the callback hell problem. Instead of taking a callback, a function returns a promise, which can be daisy-chained to do

Position independent code on x64 is quite trivial, it has a new instruction addressing mode called RIP-relative addressing so that the program can access everything relative to where it is currently executing.

Well, um ,a diagonal matrix is already diagonalizaed (lol) so its P marix is {{1,0},{0,1}} and hence the you can use those two as your diagonal entries are the eigenvalues.
