This is dangerous false equivalency. Charlie Kirk was not advocating for the rights of the downtrodden. He was a right wing provocateur, and he’s on the record saying that “some gun deaths are ok” in service of the 2nd amendment, and in mak

It’s extremely pretty, there’s great food, lots of tech jobs, you meet diverse and interesting people, great public transit (for the US). There are many reasons for living in the Bay Area.

If people are slacking off at home, they’re gonna slack off at work too. This notion that a low performing employee will suddenly perform better in the office is a myth that needs to die.

Exactly! Just build capacity, let other companies duke it out; ultimately they will all likely use AWS for their products anyway.

I have principles-fatigue after going through a number of companies that promise to abide by certain good sounding principles only to backtrack at the slightest pushback. I would actually trust a company more if it had no defined principles

There’s certainly some overhead, nothing is free. But the tradeoff is better insight into your system and better tools to validate issues when they arise. It can be very powerful in those scenarios. Ive spent countless hours on issues where

Somewhat OT but I just don’t like the current iteration of DevRel. Initially I saw the folks in this field as hype-persons, but their concrete output was tools that were useful for developers. The author did create this! But it was in servi

This is the best advice. There was a moment in time where being vulnerable on the net was okayish. I don’t think it is anymore. Its best to work on personal issues with your professional therapist and/or with your trusted group of frie

The bigger issue that nobody seems to have addressed is how a single developer could have a machine that only he had access to that could run this code with admin privileges over their ActiveDirectory. Eaton should immediately explain what

My rule of thumb is that if you have an OnCall rotation for a codebase, you should require reviews. Besides all the benefits you've mentioned, its important to spread know-how of the code so that people on the rotation don't need
