What plugins do you use? And what do you miss from windows? As a long time mac user I am probably unaware of neat stuff from windows.

You usually need multiple things combined for a successful business. A good product, a good brand, good ads, pr, etc.

> no one bought Apple products for Apple's marketing or advertising. That statement would require quite a source. Of course a lot of people bought Apple products because of the ads, like for any company that is a serious advertiser.

What does matter though is if you can affect the distribution with your vote. I would guess it is harder to affect oil companies, that are often located in other countries than your own.

Fair enough, that makes sense and would be nice if it worked.

I agree that a lot could be improved on the iPad and I would not say no to the features you suggest. But I’m not sure I understand why you would want to use an iPad instead of a laptop as a developer. For me the whole thing with the iPad is

Yeah this is a really weird shift that has happened in a relatively short time. In Sweden we have strange groups of nazis and hippies that you wouldn’t have thought would happen in a million years when I was a kid in the 80s/90s.

Why did it do that? It would make me annoyed at the super, not annoyed at the environment. ;)

I made something a little similar, but just as a little cli script that I run locally for myself. You can input a url for a YouTube video, podcast link or local audio/video file. It transcribes it with whisper and outputs the full tran

Yeah, I would like to know more about the Mac vs iOS WebKit as well. I would have guessed that the development of both would be done by the same team and that it would be very close for all features where they didn’t take a strategic decisi

I would guess that most regular users are very quick to click “Allow” on a dialog box. I like how macOS handles unidentified apps where you have to navigate manually to the security settings to allow an unidentified app.

Google is definitely the devil I know of those two, still I would not like it if one my main tools were provided by Google. Currently they seem to manage to both lack in innovation AND be unreliable.

I’m sure they had their reasons, but all I can see is the Simpsons meme with Mr Burns at the ATM saying “What’s the smallest amount of money I can think of? A thousand dollars.” ;)

You’ve been in tech for too long when 1 million USD is your smallest unit.

I totally agree. Still I hope that many great projects under BSD and MIT will keep being actively developed under that very license, but I also enjoy the freedom of knowing that I can do more or less what I please with the code.

I think everybody here understand that you legally can fork bsd code under a new license. I think you and them differ in what you think is morally correct to do for an open source maintainer in the specific context of the redis project. (I

Sorry if I was vague. My question was why you would want your meat stock to have a thickener. I mean I don’t premix all my cornstarch with spices and salt since I want to be able to pick the right amount of aromas and taste separately from

As someone who has been a vegetarian for over 25 years I’ve never heard of this. Why would you want your stock to have a thickener? Isn’t it easier to just add a thickener to the food you make so you can control how thick or thin the result

I haven’t used Heroku in a long time but I really liked the feeling of starting up a database and a container for the app with two clicks. Which are the main alternatives in that space today?

Amazing that the seniors are more productive as well. Have your team read any specific articles or other sources to learn how to do useful things within LLM for code? I really want to learn haha. Which LLM do you use?

I don’t know if I’m slow but I try to use ML for dev work but I have a hard time using it to be productive. Maybe it is because I don’t want to use GPT and copilot but I rather use local codellama, mistral, dolphin, etc. But I have found ve

Even though that is troublesome I think the absolute biggest issue was the West “helping” liberalize the Russian economy. I.e. giving away huge amounts of the Russian states resources to corrupt oligarchs with great help from London banks.
