Yes and a SpaceX rocket computer is not in space very long and is mostly in the low radiation environment of LEO. These Mars rovers spent years in a high radiation environment and received a large total ionizing dose of radiation. Having mu

Not radically different. The company that did this work was staffed with engineers who had experience on larger spacecraft. The fundamental algorithms are the same. The difference is that everything is much smaller - less momentum, so less

Don't you think part of that experience is luck? What can you do if you are stopped at a red light on an icy road, someone comes in hot and rear ends you, causing you to collide with the vehicle in front of you? You will be at fault fo

Denver for instance goes on accident alert during snow because there are so many minor, non-injury accidents. This means that police will not respond to your accident because there are so many and you self-report. There is obviously an erro

How can you think of a continuous time signal as a polynomial though? I don't know of a continuous time analogy. It seems like the polynomial only works for the discrete case. And FIR filter convolution is rarely computed by FFT in FPG

Yes that's true. But if you come at it looking at it as a sampled continuous signal and spectrum, you don't think of the FFT as fast polynomial multiplication. Neither viewpoint is wrong. Just different lenses for looking at diffe

This forum isn't really that good for space discussion. There are definitely people in the aerospace industry, but not very many, and mostly in software. You really need some people who are aerospace engineers to have the best discussi

I used to work on spacecraft flight software and I agree. Some people are so off base it's not even funny. I used to correct them but that nearly always leads to a pointless argument. One of my favorites was when a reaction wheel faile

The primary reason is $1 is the delisting threshold.

This is correct. To add to this, you will sometimes see companies attempt to avoid delisting by reverse stock splits (e.g., 10 old shares become 1 new share).

I think part of what you are asking is, "If we can't resolve the disk of a object, how do we know if it is a galaxy or a star?" The answer is that we can tell a lot about a point source based on its spectrum. For example, qua

That's like saying UTF-8 requires "nonsense" pair, triplet, or quadruplet chars. UTF-16 handles all Unicode code points just fine. UCS-2 does not. Windows transitioned from UCS-2 to UTF-16 long ago.

That implies that PDFs work with glyph indices, not Unicode code points. How do PDFs work for shaped languages like Hindi? In a script like that, you may have glyphs without any corresponding Unicode code point. Or does the PDF perhaps stor

That's right, real-time does not mean real-fast. In a hard real-time system, there is a deterministic worst-case bound for response times. "Real fast" CPUs, like the latest and greatest Intel CPUs, are actually pretty difficu
