> Finger wag at India, too. This should have been checked Yeah, I'm surprised it wasn't. I've heard of dispensers on the ISS being zip tied shut and not cut until confirmation of license.

I can't imagine this company will ever successfully be able to pull a license after this stunt. What a short sighted move.

OpenGL ES 2.0 and higher cleans a lot of that up. Crufty old calls are removed. You simply include a header and link a library without the need for a complex loader (though there still are extensions).

Definitely a lot of bandwidth required. 60 fps 4k would be 1.7 GiB/sec, 120 fps twice that. 3840×2160×10×3×60÷8÷1024÷1024÷1024

Maybe. If I remember correctly, the total ionizing dose (TID) at GEO is around double what it is at LEO. There are more single event effects (SEE) at GEO which would have to be handled. Most small sats at LEO use commercial parts and can op

Iridium used to have multiple gateways. I think Arizona, Italy, Middle East, and Asia. Do they only use Arizona now?

Ok, I'll hit you with 3 questions: 1. What bandwidth capacity are you aiming for per spacecraft? 2. Are you using commercial or rad hard parts? 3. Is there a deployable antenna that makes the spacecraft larger than 3'x3'x3&#x

Yeah seems like click bait. They pasted the line drawing from the patent application and didn't even both to try a mockup.

I do embedded work. I agree CMake is horrible when cross-compiling and runs into trouble. The errors make no sense. It took me days to get OSG cross-compiling. It was a horrible experience. I'd much rather a Makefile where I can overri

If you shut your eyes and move your hand in front of them, you think you can see the outline of your hand. I used to be a cave trip leader. We'd take people deep in a cave, turn all lights off, and ask them to put their hand in front o

I used to do VHDL for FPGAs, where you basically have to use state machines. LabView is that way too, being a dataflow language. But I don't know how much LabView I've seen that I would call beautiful. Maybe if one considers spagh

My guess is the effect isn't very significant. Are there studies showing disease versus pet ownership? People are far more "clean" today than in the past and I wonder how much our high standards for cleanliness make a differe

As much as I dislike MSVC, I'm still not sure that's a fair comparison. I've used cl.exe in large, complex makefiles to build programs that could also change CC and CXX to gcc or clang. And as far as output suppression goes,

Conformal coating is standard for PCBs going into space. Lead solder (not RoHS) is used in assembly. For commercial BGA packages, companies specialize in de-balling the RoHS balls and replace them with lead balls.

No, I haven't, and I am sure it is possible to do reliable real-time with those. It looks like all of those are commercial solutions (no open source). I remember reading a paper about the IBM implementation (I assume that it turned int

That's interesting none have launched with propulsion yet. I remember talk about the VACCO system when I was doing CubeSats a few years ago but it doesn't look like they are on-orbit yet.
