Maybe you don't want some random phone in China clogging up your map until you die? I could see wanting to get rid of it. Be nice if you could hide it or something. Maybe a button to brick it out of spite and be done with it forever.

Well, somehow housing in NYC is up 3% this year. I’m the biggest urbanist shill you’ll meet and even I don’t live there, cus it’s too damn expensive. We build only suburbs, only suburbs are affordable, and that’s where people live. Shocking

Okay, if you can't handle being around other people, then don't live in NY. But, what's your point here? Cus I know you hate it, but supply and demand says that waaaay more people like NYs than there actually _are_ NYs. Peopl

The only reason we have cities with crap density is cars, and their super-wide roads and giant parking lots spreading everything out. So, yes, we can't just put a subway system under Dallas. That's why I said busses first. At the

I can get everywhere I need to go in NYC with a few bucks loaded onto a transit card. In Atlanta I need to rent a car for $100s a day, drive it myself, pay for it's gas, its insurance and parking, prove to the local government that I&#

> That means cheaper and faster automotive transportation. That is… extremely silly. You can’t make an inherently expensive activity cheap because you’d like it to be. Cars take up so much space that’s expensive to build and maintain. Th

Yeah, but that little bit of user friendliness ruins the file system for file system things. Now you need “registries” and other, secondary file systems to do file system things because you can’t even use base64 in file names. Make your fil

Yup. Matrix and Jabber are what’s left. Sadly, all of the US is on iMessage, locking us not only into proprietary chat, but proprietary hardware to run the proprietary chat. I don’t really like my iPhone, but I bridge iMessage to my Matrix

Spotify does this thing for me where, no matter what you do, after an hour or so of listening you find yourself hearing the same 50 or so songs, over and over and over until you go mad. I still pay for it, and use it a bit, but playing my o

Whatever you call it, if there’s apartment-level density, that’s enough for public transit. If there’s an apartment in the middle of a field… well, then there’s lots of room for chargers, I guess.

Bit of a hot take here, but if you live in an apartment, you’re in a city, and cities shouldn’t require cars. Not that we’re there now, most places, but I think not requiring cars is a better goal than requiring them and putting a million c

Yes, I know. We’re talking about EV sedans. Hyundai has one, and it’s a great car, but it’s not exactly their volume seller. I don’t know that Polstar considers the 2 a sedan.

It's my understanding that the real reason we measure co2 is because it's easier to measure. Obviously, o2 is what's important, but they correlate when co2 comes from breathing out, so it's fine to just measure one. Mayb

I dunno, maybe 100x was an exaggeration, but not by much! Take a look at this transmission from 2007. They haven't gotten simpler. Lot's of cars are sporting 10-speeds these days. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
