Sorry, I meant long distance train. DC metro and especially NYC are also both faster than driving.

The problem with every train is that it doesn't go faster. But Acela is already faster than driving, which is a benchmark no other train can match in North America. Probably faster, door-to-door, than flying, unless you ride its entire

Whenever I go to the East coast, I make a point of finding some reason to ride Amtrak, preferably Acela. There's just something magical about staying anywhere between Boston and DC, and yet only being one relaxing, couple-hour trip awa

I maintain a few Linux projects in my spare time. I don’t really care about your opinion here.

Something like this really highlights AIs inability to negate things. Like, search for "no lace hiking boots" and you get hiking boots... with laces.

Why is a comment trashing a different project, in the most lazy way possible, at the top of the page? EDIT: wow, all the comments are like that. I guess something has to come first.

But 40,000+ Americans die in their cars (and run over by others' cars) every year. No subway caveat is ever going to beat that. And at least it's obvious that subways going missing is a _very_ solvable problem. We've complete

I would have to admit that even I, I public transit nerd, would prefer an empty subway car. I also don’t like driving when I’m stopped dead in traffic, or biking when it’s next to a highway with no lane, or the bus when I miss my transfer,

Well, that's certainly not the cheapest. You can find old Leafs for 5k. People love Bolts, for good reason, and bit them up.

Rootless is nice because if you mount some directory in, all the files don't end up owned by root. You can get around that by custom building every image so the user has your user id, but that's a pain.

Green threads can be nicer to program in, but it’s not like there’s no cost. You still need a stack for every green thread, just like you need one for every normal thread. I think it’s worth it to figure out a good system for stackless asyn

Say you start on Main, then make a new branch that you intend to be a PR someday. You make commit 1. Then another. Maybe 6 more. Now you realize that something in commit 1 should have been done differently. So, you "edit" commit 1
