The government can meter stuff at market rates too. Though, there also seems to be a lot of spite here, which the market may not be able to solve. Seems like the folks buying bulk water were paying FAR more, to the point that they were usin

You should set up a local machine for Immich. I’ve got it running locally, with the photos on spinning rust and thumbs and db on NVME. It’s mind blowing how fast it is. Scroll to three years ago, lift the mouse button, and every thumb loads

2/3 of your complaints seem to be down to Apple's insistence that filesystems are silly and should be hidden from users. Unless it's iCloud, then show the user 2 identical filesystems and scatter everything at random between

I did as well, but went back to NextDNS after a bunch of stuff broke for me on ControlD. Plus, I really like being able to control log retention and they have a server closer to me.

That is crazy to me that the country with a national identity built around trains also has a powerful car lobby. You really can’t escape it.

That 61 cents doesn’t even come close to covering road maintenance, let alone pollution and every other negative externality of personal car use.

Oh, odd. I have one of the first Awair devices and its local API is still going strong. Maybe because I haven’t accessed it through their app in about 5 years? They must have lost track of it. I’ll block its internet access entirely to make

Pick something you like, then look up its Home Assistant integration. If it says "Its IoT class is Local Push.", then you're all good. Lutron Caseta is my gold standard. After that, ZWave or Zigbee. EDIT: From what I can tell

If kids pay 5-10 bucks every once in a while to support their entertainment and pay engineering salaries… is that the worst thing in the world? I’d rather my kids play Roblox than scroll Instagram. One of those is “free”.
