I've been trying to get better at chess recently. But also wanted to explore some AI agent development hands on on the side. So, I built an AI chess coach to analyze my games, learning openings, and drill different endgames and such.

This is such a neat tool. The presentation is very pleasant. Is the intention to have the snippets/notes be shareable in the future? I actually made a similar tool [1] (though your's is much more complete), which I use to quickly

As a single guy, I prefer work from office. I'm sure if I was married with kids, I would prefer just the opposite.

Yeah, I know that online "investing" is driven by hype these days. But, I was basically hoping that there was something out there that at least explores investing ideas out of the mainstream not based entirely on hype or rug pulls

Thanks, had not heard of The Art and Science of Technical Analysis, will definitely check it out. I read Intelligent Investor, but kind of felt it lacking, because I didn't feel like it went low-level enough. I also have Security Analy

Looks interesting. Is there a benefit specific to using PHP for building the UI, like access to PHP libraries, etc.? Or is it for people already using PHP on the server-side, so they can also use the same language for the client-side?

Yeah, I prefer the discussions via essay format as well. Instead of the quick meme reactions. I guess it's good for comedy and being edgy, but not really for high quality ideas. I vaguely recall seeing a Show HN of a discovery tool for

I think he's getting at something important. I started writing for the same reason basically. But wish there was a way to network my writings with other people's writings. Maybe I just need to build a social media following (proba

Just curious do people use these types of automations to help with coding/software engineering? If so, in what way?

Had a boss once who insisted that all if statements should be pushed out to factory classes, and all control logic should be done by constructing a different instance of an interface. It was a pretty rigid system, but at least it did force

I bought a PopOS Gazelle with an Nvidia GPU so I could play around with ML stuff. But, looking back on it, it might have been more efficient to just get a GPU instance on AWS or Google Cloud, and just using a remote desktop like this. Anybo

Yeah, I feel like this article's outrage at the inability of prisoners to get used books is unwarranted. What actually deserves this level of outrage is the violence encountered by many in prison as you mentioned. Imagine going to pr

Big +1. Most corporate software is pretty straightforward (the company likes it this way so that it's easier to onboard new engineers). So, you stand out by delivering something other engineers can't, deep insights into how softwa

Yeah, I'm the same way. I've gotten better at it though by "practicing." For me, it's the same process as strength training. You need progressive overload. Start with easy to read attention capturing books, and slow

The crypto aspect serves a very important feature, hype. Anything tangential to crypto gets the attention of all of crypto twitter. This would not have nearly as much money in it if not for that hype. One thing I do wonder though: at some

Don't necessarily think the distinction is low-compliance vs. high-compliance. Many developing countries are high-compliance, and enact oppressive measures all the time. I think it's low expectations vs. high expectations. In west
