You'll have to spend a great deal of time to beat the presets already used by Handbrake/x264, and you'll only be able to do it on a particular clip. There's a good article[1] on the presets and how they impact quality, w

I drink far more Coke Vanilla Zero than could possibly be good for someone when at home, and yet when eating out I generally get iced tea with no sweetener. You may know a closet soda addict and not even realize it. :)

As the others have said, Coke Zero contains aspartame. However, it also contains acesulfame potassium which is another sweetener, so it may have a little less aspartame than Diet Coke. (The effect of multiple sweeteners is generally greater

All languages are not equal, but "better" or "worse" depend on the opinion of the person asked much more than you're implying.

Rails is excellent for building CRUD apps, what it was designed for, and as you say that covers a lot of ground. Plenty of code available for all sorts of common features on the web. I learned Ruby specifically to run Rails, and mostly, Rub

Go wasn't an option then. Obviously the languages that WERE options, weren't preferred. The article mentions the authors lack of Java love specifically. There are plenty of other situations where Ruby (or something else) was event

You have a hard time believing that statement, or you'd rather not? 'cause other than calling the author a liar, you're saying it's not possible for someone to be excited about the language. That's awfully presumptu

"It's Stockholm Syndrome." "It's one of the languages for those that can't." The reason so many Go advocates seem irrationally biased is because they're under near-permanent assault. Personal assault.

Actually, that brings up an interesting question: does muscle memory act like "regular" memory, with a curve of forgetting and with spaced repetition being a viable solution? If it did, then you could adapt at least some of these

About 1 billion smartphones shipped in 2013. $2 billion stops excuses for a lot of things, but this isn't one of them. Oculus will absolutely have to make due with the screens being made for phones.

I'd bet half the Oculus Rifts dev kits were in "enthusiast" hands and not serious developers. I think your assumption that every rift not sold to a dev is one less available to a dev, is incorrect. They've made 130,000 d

Level 2 Upgrade was also the 16K RAM, IIRC. Which I might not, but I know I got both the ROM and RAM upgrade at the same time, and if it'd been more than $300 I think my parents would have sold ME.

Color? That'd be the TRS-80 Color Computer, very different from the TRS-80 Model III, which was a (slightly) improved version of the TRS-80 Model I. Different CPU (6809E) in the CoCo, most of the TRS-80s used Z-80s till you got to the

The key word there is "is." When Java was at the same point in its life as Go, the big selling point wasn't tooling. Tooling came along with the success.
