We are in the process of using GitLab for managing our design history files (DFHs) for our medical devices. This will make it easier for non-techies to edit product requirements, without deep knowledge of git.

The constant issues GitLab has had with updates/deployments echoes back to a common thread that many people feel about software in general, which is that we have needleslly over-complicated things, making things brittle. Wether it'

I have considered many languages my "home". After the dust has settles, I always realize that I'm much more efficient in C#. This is subjective thought. C# isn't empirically the most efficient language, but for me, I can

The gist, every dependency you bring in your app should be thought about, really hard. If your using 10% of the lib, just implement it yourself. If the lib is critical, like openssl, bring it in. Other people have solved the hard problems f

He isn't (wouldn't be) using Rust for a dynamic runtime. It would be strictly for bootstrapping V8 and a ffi. With the ffi, you interop with whatever net stack you want.

It sounded as if he just wants everyone to use Parcel. Even then, you would use npm/yarn to get your dependencies before bundling. It sounds like he doesn't want me runtime to handle dependencies at all. You can always reference u

Any OS-quirks you experience with Qt are likely the nature of cross-development (path separators, toolbars, sys-trays), stuff that you'd likely experience with any framework. Qt's cross-platform support is amazing.

We use Yocto. By default, the distribution is super minimal. As I enable features in the Kernel, or add dependencies, they are driven based off of some functionality of our GUI/device which is tested/validated before each release.
