Yes, and I am surprised that this wasn't at the start of the article instead. Very few companies have interview processes that test for the actual skills required on the job. Certainly not any of the big 4.

Is this more common in the US? Because in my country it seems to be the absolute opposite. The permanent residents (or the locals as we call them) are extremely apathetic towards the students. Whereas the students (me included) absolutely f

I did this as part of my data structures course at University! Good exercise, but obviously mine lacked the swap, dup features etc. Instead I had min and max implemented.

Since Canonical receives a huge backlash whenever "Mir" or "Unity" are mentioned, I wanted to tell you that Unity was absolutely fantastic as a desktop. I have tried and used many platforms and in many ways (except onl

I've thought about this too. It is entirely possible but I doubt it this will end up well for Ubuntu on the desktops. Everybody should remember the backlash against SUSE when they made a deal with Microsoft back in the decade.

Yes. In India Election Commission has a very special status and rights - in many ways, it's power subsumes the actual government at the time of the election. Of course it is possible to go to great lengths to rig the system to destroy

I think it's disingenuous to ask for the proof of non-existence of something so obvious that if it existed, it would have caused a huge uproar. There has been no proof of election fraud in Indian elections since EVMs were introduced, a

The problem with that video is that it assumes that that the internet is involved at some stage. In India, that isn't the case. EVMs are not internet enabled, neither are they "programmed" by sticking a USB in them. They come

I think Wayland development was lagging when Ubuntu started with Mir. That did light a fire under Wayland's behind because it has seen considerable improvement since. The way Canonical handled the announcement of Mir is debatable but I

I think there is a setting to turn the stickiness off and you can switch between windows of the same application with Alt + Tilde. I guess people were impatient with Unity and found it easier to just switch DE's than to try to figure o

If I remember correctly both Unity and MATE came out as a response to GNOME 3's launch. GNOME 3 had a lot of bugs and was rightly shunned by the overall Linux community when it came out. Some people decided to fork GNOME 2 and create M

Let me say that the only thing I am sad about is Unity 8. I genuinely liked Unity and it's easy to use, not-too-resource-hungry interface. I definitely do not like GNOME as much. It lacks the cohesion that Unity has (I understand why,
