From the video: "[The apps] are designed for touch... but of course they work well with mouse and keyboard as well if that's what you have." Sorry, but that's not how it works. Microsoft needs to realize this. Everything he was doing there

What does "Prototypes that actually look good!" mean? The thing about prototypes is that if they "look too good" the people who see it forget it's a prototype. Then you get bogged down in details like "why is that button so orange?!?" every

FYI, if one of the "expectations to be understood" coming in is that they likely won't be getting a job, tell them that straight up. That's what I'm talking about. The expectation of interning at Microsoft or whatever is that 70% of the i

Either potential equity or the potential to get hired. Make that a stated goal for them, and have regular meetings/mentorship as to how they're doing. It sucks to bust your ass on the offhand hope that one day your boss will say "you're hir

Sure, I'll bite: I haven't really touched the "guide" section of my site since throwing it up. Do your worst. I'd like a very simple guide page to explain the somewhat complex concept I'm trying to teach. Any ideas? Let's get rid of that wa

P.S. I'm not talking about letting any old content open itself automatically. Just a list of pre-approved things, like Google Docs, a Wave, a text document, etc. So instead of getting an email notification that someone has shared a Google d

I posted this late in the last thread you made, don't know if you saw it. I think it would help. The [ask a question] -> [get the link] -> [upload mutations] workflow seems very backwards, threw me off at first. The site would reall

Yeah, exactly what I mean. Rows in the inbox = links to a type of content. This is in my opinion why Google Wave failed. No one wants another inbox to check. But, instead of an email, having the option to send a "super email" with advanced

I'd love to see "non-email" things living in the inbox. I'd receive or could create a new Google doc, a wiki, a blank 'pastebin' type document, a Google Wave type thing, etc. It would sit in my inbox, exactly like an email. But clicking the

I can kinda understand Office. Tons of commands, you grew up using the menu bar to access them, etc. It's hard to change. But for browsers? I'm genuinly curious what menu bar commands you're hitting in a browser on a daily basis. There can'

Whether or not it's stored in "real" plain text is not the issue here. The real security issue is that they email you your password at all. So anyone who has access to your inbox, even for 5 minutes while you step out of the room, now has a

The menubar is useless cruft from the 1980s. Can't believe that it's still such a huge part of the OS X user interface. Bravo to Microsoft Office, Chrome, Firefox, etc. for abandoning the menu bar entirely in their new versions.

There's a long-standing Chrome bug where middle-clicking target="NAMED" links opens them in a new tab in the foreground , not the background as is expected. So annoying. http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=62319

Here's the blog post from Lenovo/Thinkpad as to why they switched to 16:9 screens: http://www.lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/2009/04/display-rati... They say that PC makers have no say in the issue, screen manufacturers are all wide-screen

Sometimes you have to stay on the desktop out of necessity. Can't intercept low-level keyboard events or manipulate the file system, for example, from the web. Not a 'startup' per say but I'm in that boat. If I wrote this as a web app, it w
