It's the "we had to give it a way for free" part that you should rethink. People like us are way to quick to price low/free because that's what we'd pay for the service. Not at all what your target customers are willing to pay however.

Then why don't they? Why doesn't Lenovo simply their offerings and only offer 3 panels? They'd be cheaper and higher quality. That's the entire point of this article.

I break out this link whenever the topic of PC manufacturing comes up: http://www.lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/2009/04/display-rati... Thinkpads are (were) well known for their 4:3 screens. People are downright fanatical about them, and c

The problem with this kind of 'testing' is that the question "Which of these two websites has the most compelling copywriting? (ignoring the design)" is what I'll call a "focus group" question. It's not a task-based usability test. That is,

I'm curious how you think BCC ranks on that "professional-looking" scale. You've obviously A/B tested the hell out of it, have you written a blog post on the green/purple color scheme or the overall design of the site?

Same. Love me some old 4:3 Thinkpads. Indestructible, throw them in your bag without a case. Awesome docks for easy transition between your desk and the coffee shop. Great screens, higher resolution than you can get today. Trackpoints, grea

The 4:3 screen is what makes them special I think. Wish the new Airs had that option!

Over-optimization of race cars can be bad too. Take the recent popularity of vintage racing. People don't want to watch 50 similar-looking, generic, computer-designed, air-tunnel-tested, same-engine cars going around a round track. What t

True, the 'business' laptops with Trackpoints are the exception to this rule. They have 3 for some reason. That's basically why I only buy Thinkpads now.

All I know is that I buy a ton of cheap $2-10 games when they're on sale on Steam. I don't buy any games on Xbox Live due to the lack of good sales and their convoluted MS Points system. I don't understand why they don't follow Valve's ex

I wonder how that delay reflects on the Apple org chart. Do the people behind /pr/ have advance notice of big announcements? Does Steve send his letter to them at the same time he sends it the Wall Street Journal?
