GitHub doesn't have an office, nor are we in any hurry to get one. We work out of our apartments and 1-2 times a week we'll hang out at a cafe and get dinner/drinks afterwards to discuss broader ideas. The company was built with the sort of

There's a difference, though, between doing it just for the money and doing it for the love of the game which could also lead to more money.

Evan Williams already sold Blogger to Google pre-IPO, so I don't blame him for seeing how big he can make Twitter now that he has breathing room. You normally don't create another startup after becoming wealthy just to become more wealthy.

It matters when you realize how much more productive you are when you use a better SCM. I'd recommend giving Git a couple weeks and see if you still feel that way.

We apologize for the outage, there was a dual-disk failure on the SAN, but no data was lost. We're going to be working with Engine Yard to make sure this doesn't happen again.

For what it's worth, GitHub will be licensing copies of the site shortly using JRuby so we can distribute the code compiled. We're fans.

The amount of FUD you've expelled about Git the last few days is suggesting to me that you got burned by it at some point. That sucks, but some of the stuff you've been saying is just flat-out wrong. If you're getting as many merge conflict

You're not going to be able to get the one you want for $7.95, but you'd be surprised what you can get for under 1k. You could also take the 37signals route and slap an hq at the end of your domain and call it day.
