82 Hz implies a wavelength of ~4000km in vacuum. It’s extremely low frequency by comparison with the kind of radio spectrum we usually use. The Wikipedia page gives a good overview: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_s

This isn’t about “quaint shops”. This is being able to walk or cycle to your GP, or to the local shops to grab some milk, or to the nearest park to play with your kids. In the most sought after places, it’s about being able to take regular,

Does zoning prevent the walkable neighbourhoods from acquiring a full range of amenities? Or maybe the planning restrictions prevent the kind of organic infill development that leads to these places acquiring their own local character?

This is kind of a weird response to an article which is explicitly talking about high density family housing. The streets depicted are a lot like the one I live in - in our case a terrace of three bed houses (many extended into the roofspac

Oh, the M1 is a great chip, no question! But I think it’s maybe twice (three times tops?) as good as the competition on a power/perf basis, not the 10x some people keep claiming when they compare the 10W claimed by Apple against the 10

Yes, on the other hand if you own a $5k car then the insurer’s liability is much smaller & there are plenty of older cars on the road driven by older, safer drivers that fit into that category. This was regarded as a weird corner case e

I don’t think your logic is based on sound assumptions: You can’t completely turn off DRAM at idle if it’s to store data - it has to self-refresh continuously. Some power savings are available by running it in a power saving mode, but you c

Anandtech measured the max TDP of the CPUs in the M1 as being around 28W, with the GPU adding ~17W to that figure. https://www.anandtech.com/show/16252/mac-mini-apple-m1-teste...

TDP is the max design power of the platform, not the average though. The M1 maxes out at somewhere just under 30W - Anandtech measaured it at 28W after removing the platform power use. The M1Max will probably run somewhere from 40-50W under

Anandtech measured the TDP of the M1 at ~28W & this chip has twice the number of high power cores & 2 fewer low power cores, so probably somewhere around 40-45W? Eventually the rest of the market will get access to TSMC’s 5nm capaci

Sure, but the same goes for the M1. It's peak power draw much greater than the 10W figure Apple used. I believe arstechnica measured it at about 28W after removing the platform base power cost. The M1 is a great chip, but it's not
