I used to have a similar dream all the time. Always felt a passage through time and space with a terrible sense of dread and confusion. Turns out I have sleep apnea and as soon as I got a cpap the dreams went away.

Seems to me the best thing is to make it as easy as possible for the maintainer (clear, with environment and steps to reproduce). The majority of maintainers want to iron out any bugs they have and the more of a checklist item the report i

The big thing I find fascinating about it is the live environment. You can explore and change every single piece of code while it’s running. There’s really nothing else out there that does this except maybe lisp and even there you give up

Our NYC school tried to make a quick switch from zoom to google meet when zoom was having issues with people porn bombing meetings. It was not a smooth transition and took over a week before we saw all the teachers and kids on it. The kids

It’s reasonable, just hard to take seriously coming from a company that skirts around laws and regulation as a business model.

This has always bothered me. In the US there is no way I have seen beyond running your own business to negotiate the time spent working. When I started in the work force I thought taking a smaller salary for 4 day work week would be a rea

“And” also helps with some of the upsides and downsides to it. Meritocracy is great as a motivation to push yourself forward and keep working towards a goal. Deciding everything is based on luck really saps from that. Merit is also used

His writing on lisp and the life of his startup were much better reads. He may have some valid points but it is hard to read a really rich person (who got rich really young) handwave away large swaths of society.

Clojure spec seems like the way to go. I really like that it defines what should be going in and out while leaving it really easy to merge incoming data without having to write a bunch of extra code.

I think it’s the wrong metric to look at. Static typing still leaves plenty of room for bugs. The capability and discipline of the team would likely be more of a factor than the type system so the studies would be hard to get right. Howe

This is a really underrated take on the issue. These “simple” errors become a huge issue when you are trying to track them down. There are no codes or namespaces so you end up having to be really diligent about how you log and wrap them.

Snap spent an awful lot of money on the facial recognition tech they acquired. I’d imagine the investment was somewhat worth it even it only slowed down competitors time to market.

I have a 2560x1440 monitor at home and 2x 4K monitors at work. I like my home setup better because the tools I spend most time with (vscode and Xcode) lock all their panels to one window making the real estate more important then the pixel

Swift is great but is starting to suffer from feature bloat. I really loved the simplicity of objective-c. If you can get past the syntax you find a very thin wrapper on top of c that lets you do really fun things. I don’t think I’ve eve
