eBay provides fewer platform support and therefore has lower commission? Also, second-hand doesn't always mean used. A good niche on eBay are New in the Box items that somebody wants to get rid of. The marketplace is pretty good there

Homeless people dying on the streets shooting up drugs would be a good place for human rights to start, but NIMBY's cultural norms are very inclusive of this for some reason. Also male genital mutilation at birth is such a nice cultura

On the consumer side, Google has begun charging for services like storage. It also sells Pixel phones and licenses Android. Maybe it's still heavily subsidized but it's not that clear cut.

Yeah, it's the best time to invest since ... (checks watch) ... 18 months ago. I'm sorry, at an investment horizon of 10-20 years, that's not a slick deal. I am also talking about bitcoin. If it goes to $5000 then we're

I don't know, people seem pretty greedy still. VIX barely at 30, PE10 near pre-pandemic highs, real yields negative out to 3-4 years, and markets are orderly. If you get weeks and weeks of 4% daily drops, real yields at 5%, and hedge f

Gains from the past isn't so much the point, but rather when you may need to liquidate. An emergency fund is typically needed at the worst possible time, when the economy isn't good and investments are deflated. That's the li

Stocks are the definition of not liquid, in that their implied duration is 10+ years at least. How many fools are using stocks as an emergency fund during a tightening cycle that's removing liquidity at the fastest pace since the 1980&

Broad munis and intermediate treasuries are both down 10% YTD, and so are TIPS (though at least those have had inflation adjustments). You might want to check your "emergency fund investment account" lol...

Not really. Gold is up about 10% over 10 years and CPI change over 10 years is about 27%. In the grand scheme of things that's flat. You forgot all the deflationary years in between.

Gold is flat YTD and over 1 year. It may yet go down but probably won't unless inflation is checked. It's living up to promises.
