I did something similar to this. I wanted "Lazy loaded" SVG images. Generating an average color over an area would render horrific results - an area with equal red green and blue would be gray for example. My solution was to conve

For me MySQL isn't even worth touching. Just this week their 'stable' binaries from their website threw seg faults while executing large SQL batches on my dev box. I replaced it with mariaDB and had no issues.

I just installed a dual flush toilet and the first thing it does is start tricking water down the bowl. The instructions called to cut two rods inside the cistern if this happens. I'm too scared to do this with a new toilet, and i don&

To expand on 3: most spy satellites operate in sun synchronous polar orbits. This is so they can cover the entire earth and will have their solar panels lit by the sun. This also has the ramification that they'll always be in the same

An underlying tone of this article which most people in this thread have missed, was the impact of hitting the ground running. Godot quickly gets something on the screen for someone to build on. Qt is difficult to get something running. The

I've never bought into the ruse of an increasing population implying a higher standard of living. Politicians love this as a stagnating economy can appear to be doing better, by pointing to an increased GDP that usually rises with an i

I had the idea to set mine to the Digg logo as an act of protest I'm protesting by not using Reddit. Ruqqus has so far been an OK alternative, though it's a bit slow both in terms of content and site speed.

Reddit has become insufferable in the last few years. It used to be a great news and community aggregator, but since they switched to a social media platform the quality of content changed. It's easy to brush this off as the 'hive

It's crazy the value of vintage computers. My dad gave me an IBM XT 286 he got for nothing in the late 90's. It was for me to take apart and destroy so I could learn a bit about computers, which I did. Now just the keyboard is wor
