The main issue with his post is he has no idea what he's talking about. He mentions languages neither interpreter is written in and talks about 'buzzwords', while all the products I mentioned are real things.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Both Python, PHP and Varnish are (mostly) written in higher level languages. Also performance has a massive effect on how and what language a site is written in.

Stupid question: is the because reddits backend is in python? I often hear that PHP + varnish is only limited by the size of the pipe. Can this scale on cloud platforms?

Samsung ripped off Apples design, there's no excusing this: http://i.imgur.com/qN6n9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FJkZE.png They're clearly in the wrong here. It's not about the fundamental form factor of the devices, it's about blatant plagi

I'd love to compare $billions in expenditure / angry letters from conservative nuns, for both NASA and the Department of Defense. Even better would add the estimated lives saved by NASA technologies and DoD bombs.

Usability and filesize aren't correlated. Perhaps with some attention from Debian Xfce can fix some of it's usability issues.

This problem has multiple solutions, as demonstrated by the HN comments. It's not asked to find a solution, instead to figure out your thought processes. You could come up with a comp sci solution (analogous to a data structure or algorithm

The difficult thing is assessing your opinion whether it was downvoted because your opinion was fallacious or someone doesn't agree with it. It does cause some problems with content, most notably bandwagons and mundane comments out of fear.

It would a dream if they adopted webkit for office. Outlook is keeping the email rendering in the 90's. However it's to Microsoft's benefit to keep their file formats rendering in obscure ways, as it makes it difficult for competitors to ed

I'm very proud of the ingenuity of New Zealands high court. So far the government, police and court systems have all bent over backwards to the Americans. It's nice to know at least one public service still serves the people.
