There needs to be a name for this phenomenon: a phrase being rendered un-Googleable due to overloading by a more dominant homograph. I'm sure there is one in German...

Thank you. My intent was not actually to beg for a code so much as snarkily (sorry!) point out my annoyance at the need for one -- but I appreciate the gesture and will check it out.

I take your point -- especially in today's market -- but those are selective examples. We don't by and large pay for metered roads or sidewalks or bike paths, for example. There are plenty of other unmetered public services -- and whether

If people are really interested in speeding IPv6 adoption, the fastest way might be for government and/or industry to subsidize IPv6-only broadband for consumers (via existing ISPs). Imagine $1-5/month DSL to your home, price-locked for 3 y

FWIW, I know at least one person whose considerable SO karma helped them land a job (and who wrote those comments with that goal in mind). It's not all about ego.

For some reason I object to this on principle, even though it clearly is a good idea. I want GMail to learn dammit, and do The Right Thing.

Wouldn't one simple defense be to have the OS pop up a window requiring the user to hit a specific unpredictable key (or short key sequence) when a new keyboard is plugged in?

Given the rate of change in OS and GUI environments, support libraries, and other APIs, most desktop apps don't work very well for long these days either. Of course unlike SaS you can always continue to use an old version indefinitely in a
