I like how this article is laid out as first defining the existing systems used today since while it’s all I know, I haven’t spent the time defining it. And then describes a number of inspirational examples of how it could be different. Des

I appreciate your passion for this work! Ossia looks cool and I’d like to try it out sometime. The idea that this can be used for Max or as I’ve seen mentioned on other threads, video, is pretty interesting. Live performances are incredibly

What are some things this can be used for? From a short skim this seems like a way to make sharable, tweakable effects and patches for any OS. Stuff that historically soundflower could be use for?

YouTube premium removes ads. If you watch an hour or more of his videos you’ll realize he’s an extremely cautious creator and knows what he’s doing.

Totally agree it’d be great in those situations, but I just don’t think there are a lot of people who need that. It’s probably a lot of fun to fly. It’s just stressful to think if something isn’t going right in flight and I want time to thi

I don’t have great sources, so take my claim with a grain of salt. But overall this analysis of Cirrus incidents over 25 years [0] was interesting to read. In response to fatalities and pilots choosing not to use the parachute when that cou

With a 20 minute flight time (and is that with any safety margin remaining? Doesn’t say.) at ~60mph I can only make a 10 mile round trip. 20 miles of each landing spot has a charger (and I doubt there’s weight budget to carry a decent charg

There are also enough false deployments that caused harm with these parachutes (edit: instances where pilots didn’t deploy when they should have) that the jury is out on how much of an improvement these are to safety, overall. Operator skil

It’s a lot of weight for little reward. A duct/shroud may not even improve the safety in a significant way (if it were thick enough it could, but it’d need to very light)

There was a wave of popularity in 2017 as well. I used to work on it full time back then, and enjoyed it a lot. The SQLProvider [0] and other type providers like it are super impressive! [0] https://fsprojects.github.io/SQLP

I agree, without reading your comment I thought the map fingerprints were linking to a tabloid weather report. I went back and realized the pages have very well developed interactive data visualizations.

I think this is the same argument made by Veritasium - poorly summarized: do whatever it takes to hook people in that have never heard the topic before, then teach them something new. https://youtu.be/S2xHZPH5Sng

Is their “scanning tunnelling microscope” similar to a atomic force microscope [0]? It also drags a probe over the surface so I’m wondering if they are in the same family. [0] https://youtu.be/2Kv6KwADn7Q

Very interesting read. This seems to be implemented as a Bluetooth LE app running on the ultra-low power “always on processor” used for a variety of features, like “wake-up on motion.” Much like an Tile or AirTag is implemented. No comment

It’s implemented as Bluetooth LE it seems, so I assume anything RF blocking for Bluetooth should do what you want.

Along the lines of unique receptacles, I ran across some public pizza box “bins” (they were basically a cube with an open top) in Los Gatos, CA. And to my surprise they had a stack of empty pizza boxes in them.
