Many European states (some of the better ones) are still monarchies.

I have to wonder what they're missing here. Heated seats sound pretty straightforward: some MCU, a MOSFET driver, maybe an RS485 transceiver. All of that stuff should be done with commodity hardware.

They effectively own the majority of personal computers in the US. They're able to extract rent from everyone this way and for most people there's nothing they can do about it. Once you're really dependent on one of Apple o

Skin and eye damage from the sun is permanent and cumulative. The trick is doing things in the sun without exposing yourself to it too much (and not letting the exposure discourage you.)

There are many people who argue that the middle and working classes actually have less say in democracy (as opposed to say, monarchy) because the people at the top can easily afford to buy out all the media.

Teams is awful. I don't know how people actually like these closed IM apps to begin with but Teams is one of the most poorly behaved ones.

The problem with email on iOS is that there's no way to do instantaneous notifications without paying Apple at least $100/year for a custom app with a certificate to do push. The mail app only does polling (no IMAP IDLE) so the

Sure I could go all out for a while but what do I do after that? I'd imagine partying and not working for a year or two would cause my mental health to further deteriorate and to have that while being broke would be a catastrophe.

(context, I lived somewhere for two years where cycling infrastructure was very well maintained during the winter.) The reality about the winter is that cycling in the winter is fucking cold. The forward movement exaggerates the wind chill.

People hate X11 and apps that use older toolkits but I can move Windows around my under powered PinePhone in real time all day long on Fluxbox.

Even if they aren't being "forced" (and I would argue they are) it's unpleasant enough that you should be able to understand why there's a protest.

Some of the job descriptions I've seen from recruiters are so bad it almost feels like a trap. Like if you respond you'll be blacklisted for being desperate and have a harder time finding a legitimate job. I saw an email the other

The App store is one of the most disappointing things to happen to personal computers. Instead of empowering indie devs it shut them out and empowered corporations.

I will never run your app if you build it this way, that sounds absolutely awful. Just write a GTK app or if that's too hard a CLI app since the CLI is first class on the PinePhone.
