You get DRM-free copy, and unlimited amount of downloads for the music. In multiple formats, including flac and nowadays quite often 24bit flacs are also available.

I have Lenovo ThinkPad T14s AMD, which always goes to sleep and wakes up just fine. Bluetooth works, it's fast, quiet and has a long battery life. AND I can use Linux, which is a dealbreaker for me as my favorite operating system.

The author of nouveau is working for NVIDIA now. And redhat is writing their nova driver to the mainstream. I really wish this would mean using NVIDIA is going to be a breeze in the near future. Until that I'll buy AMD.

Yeah. Speaking swedish especially in the coastal area of Finland is quite common. My father in law mixes both languages together in a funny way in his talk. It's kind of funny, but also pretty common among the Finnish-Swedes...

I guess I've been lucky to work on companies in the past ten or so years, where compiler warnings were treated as errors in the CI. Also been really lucky to use an editor which always highlights warnings and lists them, so I can fix t

We ran our whole platform, written in Rust, in the Cloudflare Workers. It was not a great experience. You need to use their SDK, with really interesting bugs that never got fixed (we always forked a version). It was pretty hard to test anyt

I worked with SQL Server a bit, writing a Rust client for it back in the days. The manual is really good, explaining the protocol clearly. That made it really easy to write a client for it. Can't say the same for Oracle...

I run all the AI models without any issues with a desktop Radeon. I don't even think about it, just start the ollama docker and run the models. Inference is not an issue with AMD.

There's a great Donald Duck comic on making decisions based on a coin flip, written by the legendary Carl Barks: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip_Decision Didn't end too well for Donald and the boys.

I really wish Rust projects would stop using the term "blazing speed". It is almost like a meme already. You can write slow code in Rust pretty easily, so speed is something extra. And I am a Rust developer... Seeing this term mak

If you decide to stream with a lower bitrate in Plexamp, it transcodes to Opus. You should not encode the files, just use Plex or Jellyfin and choose a lower bitrate when playing with your phone. Jellyfin uses AAC and Plexamp uses Opus.

Tell that to some of my 24bit/192kHz flac files. About 300 megabytes each. Not nice to stream with plexamp using my 40 Mbps upstream... Easy to encode in opus though.

In Germany you sign a contract and it is hard to get you out. The rent increases very little while you are there. When you move out they do a quick renovation and charge double or triple the rent you paid.

This is why I'm really looking into SerpentOS and their moss build system. Kind of like a combination of Nix and AUR. Simple syntax, simple to create packages, atomic. https://serpentos.com/docs/packaging/

Yeah, I'm also interested on this. I don't know, but my gut feeling on this is that no, you can't mix other audio or use a software volume control with DSD audio. It has to be converted to PCM first. But, with Pipewire you _c

One thing to solve here, that nobody else but Roon can do, is bit-perfect playback. Meaning that your SACD rips in DSD format are not transcoded. Plex cannot do that, neither can any subsonic server or jellyfin. You need a native player for

Arch, Nix, Debian, Fedora and Windows. Just switch between them from the terminal new tab menu. If one container breaks, just dump the list of installed packages and start over. The base system is rock solid.
