are you swiping left/right over the “home indicator” at the bottom of the screen? this is an interaction that not many people know about, but it is so much faster than swiping up, and then choosing the right app.

If you do this with a dynamically loaded library that you write to during execution, can C become a dynamic language?

If anyone is interested in how this new material is made: it’s literally grown from scratch. Imagine a 3D printer at atom scale. But because the scale is so small, the nozzle has to deposit a gas. The magic is in making the individual gas m

The actual difference here is the encoding, into a representation of a dataset annotated by thousands of people. Sounds like a basis of knowledge or even understanding. I bet this scales way better than any other method on large datasets

So sad that this has to be a museum piece. The bottles could also double as water storage and a heating system. Or be plastic yet filled with sand or something. Wonder how much more expensive these would be to manufacture. Making no waste i

Aren’t these frequencies merely defined by the rate of chemical reactions that occur between neurons (eg. how fast action potentials get generated and travel)? If that’s true, it seems that this study points in the direction that bees and p

Lots of thoughts already on this page, hard to focus a discussion but I'll try to get to the essence. The mnemonic medium tool is fantastic, it forces our brain to keep an idea current; we tend to naturally forget stuff if it isn'

Great point! I think ISPs are fine services, they can host and serve websites like they’ve always done. I pay for my service, you pay for yours, we can connect, it balances out. If you decide to do something that adds value for the both of

There’s a massive power struggle indeed, but if you look who’s really behind those organizations, you’ll see people just like you and me, imperfect minds in funky bodies that came from the same place we all once did. World leaders and CEOs

I love how you phrased that! I’m also tired of what’s going on. These corporations allow groups of people to compete for our attention just like individuals. Some giants we created are now getting in our way so much that people are starting

I’m so sorry to hear you have such a dark outlook. I totally agree, those companies are not about the consumer anymore, but that’s fine. That’s their problem. I see computers and the internet as an extension of ourselves, and so they still

When will we realize that adwords and everything it inspired was a wrong turn for the internet? I’d much rather pay a monthly fee to get the services I want. I understand that Google and Facebook have gone too far down this path, and they w

For Google’s current product, yes. What if they would start to offer a paid ‘utility’ search that is both transparent and regulated, and part of the service fee would go to fighting adversaries?
