It is not a significant improvement, but demonstrates the performance tax of the conventional operating system layer. How does it demonstrate that, if the improvement isn't significant?

> The next batch of units will ship no later July 30th, 2010. Based on your pre-order date (11/24/2009), you should expect your WakeMate no later than 07/30/2010, but probably significantly sooner.

Anyone else has the problem that they need to log in with a Google account before being able to see posts on Google Groups? I even have this on the group I created, which I set to the most public settings.

I'm not so sure. I tried to get a free Android device to see if Android is an interesting platform to develop for, but couldn't find anyone that could get one for me (and I'm not ready to sign a 2-year contract just for an experiment :)).

I had about the same; when switching to Firefox, it opened a new tab and before this was opened I was still able to look at an existing tab of someone else.

At that point, the server will have to have received the MD5(username realm pass) at least once in order to verify the hash. You're better off not building your own schemes and instead trust existing solutions like SSL.

Because if you just send the MD5, others can log in as you when they know the MD5, which they can just sniff. It doesn't gain anything in security, except for not knowing your actual password.

It's fairly easy to do if you are logged in on the network already. For example, for the iPhone you can use something like pirni to spoof the mac address of the router. That way you'll receive all data on the network, and can send it on the

Why not? Just don't ship the definition of your struct in your headers, only declare them.

The problem is that as soon as you are any threat to them, they'll either sue you (they have a ton of e-learning related patents) or buy you. Not sure you want to go into that area.

The Royal Bank of Scotland does this too, though they don't enforce crazy long passwords.

This really doesn't indicate any policy change, as apps with similar functionality have been approved for a long time now.

Compare a normal workflow, like submitting a bug to Git: * Commit your bugfix * 'git send-email --to=git@vger.kernel.org -1' With the GNU model: * Commit your bugfix / make a patch * Send your patch to the maintainer of the project * The ma

Just as a note to people wanting to buy an unlocked Android phone: I'm not entirely sure, but AFAIK you still can't put a custom rom on those machines without going through some hoops. You'll have to root your HTC Desire first (even though

You can make a perfectly fine SOCKS proxy without using any unpublished API's. It's just listening on one socket and then opening a new one based on the request.

why? the encoders / decoders can still be OSS, and you can use h264 for free for personal use. Even if you won't be allowed to do this in the future, the rest of the toolchain can always be used with another standard.

Apps may not be he most used feature of a phone, but it is one of the things that really differentiate a platform. I'd be hesitant to move to android and not be able to use all the excellent, low-priced apps for the iPhone.
