It seems their problem with Square is that it allows you to get the credit card number in plaintext if you use their hardware. Of course, this is nothing new: you can buy a cardreader that acts as a USB keyboard for $20 and use that to read

I tried a few, and it looks like most (all?) of them can be answered by wolfram alpha.

The argumentation is as follows: * Cutting and pasting doesn't work as nice on an iPad as on a PC * Therefore, the iPad is worse than a PC * Also, Apple sells a lot of macs * Therefore, they must have crippled copy-pastin

This is great. Previously I used to receive a document that was printed, then signed, then scanned and emailed to me. I would print it again, sign it, scan it, and send it back. This can greatly simplify the process and seems to work rather

This is true. There are only a few vendors out there who support IPv6 at all, and those that do aren't consistent with their products. For example, D-Link supports IPv6 + tunneling on their DIR-615, but only on revisions C and E (not D), an

Apparently OS X now supports supplying DNS servers through SLAAC. Previously this wasn't supported, so you'd still need a DHCP(v4) server to fully support a client.

Yes, stateless autoconfiguration in IPv6 is supported by OS X. However, for stateful autoconf, you still need (a newer version of) DHCP, which OS X doesn't support yet.

It's a good thing to note here that 'code' doesn't mean 'source code'. They're giving the security researchers free access to the same OS X seed you can get by paying Apple $99/year.

Why? Nothing changes for you. Developers can still create universal binaries that run on your macs if the choose to do so. The only thing that changed is running PPC-only apps on intel machines, which is something nobody really cares about

My girlfriend tried to design an icon for an open-source app she uses, but the experience hasn't been really great. I think the way developers in open-source projects communicate doesn't really work with designers. She sent the photoshop so

Are there alternate ways of passing this test for people with disabilities? For example, I have some form of face blindness and wouldn't be able to pass this test, unless I could remember the pictured event itself.

It leaks through in some places. For example, len(u'\U0001D310') (from the Tai Xuan Jing Symbols) returns 1 on 32-bit wide pythons, and returns 2 on the default 16-bit wide builds.

Here's a small tip if you really want a download instead. If you sign up as a mac developer you can download it from developer.apple.com , though I'm not sure what the license on that is.

See the Macbook Air page for instance: http://www.apple.com/macbookair/ Though that's the only page so far I've found with a dark black background. I'm not sure why it's black, all the other Macbook Air pages have a light background.

That os x UI design is pretty bad. If you do it only in the menu like suggested there, you have to make a window active to actually see what profile is associated with it.

Hasn't CitizenM ( http://www.citizenmamsterdamairport.com/amsterdam-lodging-ho... ) done the same for yeras? This isn't really exciting, it's just a badly-working touchscreen interface.

Interesting that people, when searching for 'cake central', still click on a link with a title saying 'ERROR: backend server did not respond in time' even though the second result has 'CakeCentral' in bold.

From what I understand, switching apps is done using 4 or 5 fingers, so the 3 finger gesture is still free to be used by the app itself.

I think the part about TPM simply isn't true. The reason OS X doesn't run on normal X 86 machines by default doesn't have anything to do with the TPM, there even isn't a TPM anymore in modern macs. You could use the TPM similar to how you c

Apple should test for this in the review process, and reject paid apps that are susceptible to this simple technique. That part is just silly. Developers should decide themselves how much time to spend on the validation. For examp
