If you just want a quick and dirty VPN to tunnel your TCP traffic through, it's probably easier to launch a random EC2 image and run shuttle [1] on your client. https://github.com/apenwarr/sshuttle

The 20% efficiency is, as stated in the other comment, about correct for a plant without thermal storage. See far example [1]. What happens with the higher efficiency ratings is that they put more mirrors on the tower, or have a smaller tur

I guess that means that 370MW is the nominal optimal generating power? From what I read, thermal solar has a capacity factor of only about 20% [1], which means this solar farm will average out to about 70MW, which isn't that much. Coal has

On the one hand I'm really impressed we've managed to do this. On the other hand I'm disappointed that 50 years after the fact, this is still something special.

This fairly accurately describes the current IPv6 situation. For his specific points: * Hardware: this is a huge problem. Apple's routers support IPv6 just fine, but most of the other stuff is a mess. D-Link supports it in some revisions of

That doesn't really make sense. Apple has the same access to GPU's as Android manufacturers have, so there really aren't any 'Android GPU's' they should have a look at. Their problem with Android is that the hardware they're building for is

Wait, what? The iPad 2 costs the same as the original iPad. It differs a bit in different countries, but that's mostly due to exchange rate differences, and Apple has always 'corrected' those when releasing product updates.

_I’m told that Verizon, for example, has two /16 blocks (128K addresses in all) that are external addresses assigned to internal nodes like printers. Those could all be recovered since they are being misused, or Verizon could sell them for

The crucial point is that you can still have multiple VPS's on a single machine, but you're guaranteed they'll all be yours. That is, the only difference with the dedicated instances is that there won't be an instance of someone else runnin

It says in the article that their IP space is from a legacy block, which means it's has never been given by IANA to any RIR, so ARIN can't make a claim on it. Not sure how they'd get 666k addresses out of legacy space though :).

I wonder what Microsoft is going to do with the block. If you have a valid use for addresses, you can still get them pretty much for free right now, though that'll change in a few months. Perhaps they're just hoarding them for the future al

My guess it's mostly due to regulations and labor / material costs in Finland. Moving a reactor really isn't easy, the things are made of tons of concrete, and need a pretty huge foundation. That said, there probably is a market for portabl

No, the fix is really easy: you drop the magnetic strip and only use chipped credit card (or similar). And this is what all the CC have been moving to already.
