I don't see any reason to assume this will show up on the iPhone. Apple has a very strict policy about interpreters running on their platform, why would they suddenly change that? (You might still be able to AOT your macruby program and shi

What a clear way of explaining the problem. Very readable graphs too, I'm impressed!

I'm not sure I would follow all this advice. As the maintainer of GitX, I have difficulty in keeping some kind of community running. One of the things that I'm definitely _not_ going to do is add more ways of communication (A newbie forum,

The problem isn't the dragging to the application folder itself. I've seen my mother do this and it went fine. He problem is that the application isn't moved, it is copied. After putting a copy in the Applications folder, she just drags the

Is it just me, or is having to download a file, run a terminal and execute 5 commands just to get flash not a sign of a 'proper desktop OS'?

I agree, but remember, it's not Cocoa, they use Carbon for SWT's OS X look and feel.

I wish them good luck with this, I think it's going to be very hard. I know everybody is disgusted with Java GUI's, at least on OS X. They just don't fit in. SWT uses native widgets, but I don't think anyone would dare call SWT GUI's native

I wonder how hard it is to make libdispatch available for Leopard. I don't mind requiring Snow Leopard for development, but the resulting binary should be runnable under both Leopard and Snow Leopard, without requiring potential new develop

Try this: gitx -- README.txt Or in GitX itself, in the tree view (bottom button bar, most right thing), right-click on a file or directory, and select "history for file"

GitX used to have some problem when a repository had lots of files. That should have been fixed in 0.7 though.

This personal approach to the problem by Apple is the best thing they can do at this point. Now they need to follow up not only with words, but with actions -- make the App Store a fun place to develop for again.

I'm still skeptical about the Cydia Store. I won't spent money on apps that might stop working with any update Apple may release. At least with the App Store I'm reasonably certain my applications will work on a future iPhone. Also, 3G Unre

It's not only about royalty's. For example, Apple happily pays the H264 fees for its iPhones and iPods. Having a free alternative won't make that stop, the reason they use H264 is because there are a lot of hardware acceleration chips out t

There's a lot of data about this if you google a bit. One of them is this: http://www.pinchmedia.com/appstore-secrets/ It mentions that only 30% of the users use a free app after the first day, and more stuff like that.
