Yeah. If anyone doubts this go listen to some gamelan music and see if they can make any sense of it (harmonically speaking). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGCSrC8RN6c

Obviously search results can't be copyrighted but it's a completely different situation for Reddit, no?

"Worse" is definitely a subjective appreciation influenced by culture and personal taste.

Yes. Something like 45% of global emissions come from electricity generation.

Indeed. We needed to reach zero emissions 20 years ago and today we should have strong negative emissions. At this rate I don't think humanity will reach zero emissions before 2050. It's going to take a couple of very bad years fo

Excluding all the capex from AI this last quarter has been one of their best.

It is an indisputable fact that Anthropic made money on models trained on those pirated books.

> This is a settlement that the authors and Anthropic agreed upon. The authors or the publishers? I have a hard time believing they agreed with the millions of authors they pirated.

This is not even than a slap on the wrist. Publishers who negotiated this really fucked up writers. According to US federal law, pirating a single copyrighted work and gaining commercial advantage of it (which Anthropic 100% did) represents

Still not 100% there but yeah in 5-10 years it wouldn't surprise me if Linux becomes the dominant desktop gaming platform.

This is the exact reason I stopped using Bun for new projects. Terrible project governance. TS 7 is a good example of what a responsible team that cares about their users should have done.

Without new models how would AI companies compete then? Other features can easily be copied (eg Claude Code, ChatGPT, etc). If AI services are a commodity then they can only compete on price.

I've been using Photoshop since CS1 (was a Corel user before that). Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 were the last good versions. Very snappy and with probably 99% of the features I use today. Everything slowly degraded when they moved to

Inference is probably the cheapest part of it all. The buildings will last for years, decades even, but the GPUs need to be replaced every 2-3 years in perpetuity.
