Ah. I live in Scotland too and wondered if Monzo had some connection (Tesco Bank is based here but operates UK-wide)

I recently trashed my 2011 MBP (oops) and spent a month without it. I decided to try using my corporate-provided Surface Pro 4 instead to see how I could get on with a similar-spec Windows 10 PC for personal use. By the end of the month I h

Without meaning to sound rude, why does it make a difference where you live? I feel like I'm missing something.

I love my Pro-ject RPM 1 turntable. It's such a simple design - stripped back to the bare bones of what's needed to play records. http://www.project-audio.com/main.php?prod=rpm13

I have four Noodler's pens, and have bought them as gifts for others. They're remarkably good value and write beautifully.

Oh no! I've been ogling these since they came out, and only recently convinced myself I really didn't need one. Now it's back on the table...

I upgraded everything in my Snow Leopard-era 13" MBP and it was still running fine until I stupidly spilled water on it last month. Now replaced by a 2015 13" MBP, which feels almost identical (although that Retina screen is goooo

Yes - anything that doesn't need to be accessing the internet. Plus Google things that phone home. It's fun to watch them get frustrated and light up red in the activity monitor as they desperately try to send back metrics.

Not really anything that equals it, which is a surprise and a shame. The closest thing I've found is Net Limiter 4. https://www.netlimiter.com/

I still haven't forgiven them for changing what <Backspace> does in File Explorer (used to go up one level, now goes 'back' in the history). Even though that was undocumented.

You could just run the test software from inside a VM - with all those helpful 'written materials' on your real desktop.

It's certainly not a thing in the UK. I first heard of it on a radio programme about the Americanisation of Chinese food a few months ago, and I wouldn't know where to find it here. I'd love to try it though.

The service you experience with Prime definitely depends on where in the UK you live, or rather where the item is going. I live in a city centre, within 50 miles of an Amazon distribution centre, and it often offers me same day delivery.

The data that ISPs will be forced to record is just the domain and time of access, not the full URL. The devil is in the metadata.

The quality of life in Edinburgh is very high.[1] It's a really fantastic place to live. I think the tech scene is quite strong and growing - as well as the multinationals and start-ups, there are a lot of well-established small/m

I knew I had some free space with my Fastmail account but didn't realise how much - or that I could use my own domains. That's pretty cool.

Same here - my 'example.com' was a brand new but very generic domain. I've only used it for email, and never for public email addresses, so it doesn't appear in Google or get any spam. I would recommend this to anyone!

I'm in a similar position - I live in a 19th century ten-flat building, all privately owned. We had one flat rented out all summer on Airbnb and it turned me from being 'meh' about the idea to being totally against it. None o
