50% compared to what? AWS EC2? Lambda? Google Cloud Run? Those sort of numbers without even having a pricing page give me 0 confidence sorry.

I use GitLab's private registry + scheduled pipelines to prebuild our base images, but that's definitely some extra spice. Thanks for sharing!

I've seem root terminals a lot in CI pipelines in the wild. Also one common way to install "DevOps" stuff piping scripts from curl (and them being asked for root)

Great article, wish I had something like that 3 years ago. Adding my personal tips: - Do not use GitLab specific caching features, unless you love vendor lock in. Instead, use multi stage Docker builds. This way you can also run your pipeli

When running things that tolerate interruptions, AWS Spot Instances are way cheaper than Hertzner or any other VPS service.

+1 I want to pay for stuff so I know the services I buy have good incentives. I'm currently using Fastmail, 1Password and trying out Zorin OS. A paid browser would be an awesome addition to the stack.

I guess that's what MS is aiming for, although as someone who has been using WSL at $JOB for the past 3 years I think they still have many rough edges to work on.

My grip with pip freeze is that it doesn't differentiate dependencies from dependencies-of-dependencies. So you might end up in dependency hell when trying to remove or modify something.

From my POV (user), how do I know if my data is being aggregated correctly and not being sold? As a developer, how do you know the data you're collecting now won't be used maliciously in the future by your org?
