David Miranda was elect as substitute to another congressman. I don't think he has the public support to be elect by himself. He only became a congressman when the other politician abdicate the position due life threats.

In a previous discussion, someone was worrying about using floats to represent price in JS. I think this is a consequence on the fear mongering on using floats to store currencies. Floating Points are hard. There is a study done with academ

Yeah, I should had be more careful with my words. For the vast majority of person, there is no need to worry so much about using fp to represent currencies. There are other issues with float that will bite you in your back before precision

You are absolutely right. When adding numbers with large magnitudes differences (around 10^17 I think) it might exceed the format precision. I should have taken that in account when defining the error boundaries. In dollars, you start havin

> IEEE 64-bit floating point gives 2.1149999999999998, which is hard to get to round to 2.12 without breaking a bunch of other cases. Your issue is on how to print the float, not with the precision of fp. For instance, `21.15 * 0.1` ca

To see 0.1 error using _double_ you have to do at least 2*10^17 operations (assuming the worst case scenario and no subnormals). If you are working with such huge numbers, 0.1 cents is probably a cost you are willing to pay to avoid expendi

I think the "floating point are bad for storing currencies" is one of the most common misconception about floating point. Most people don't realize that the IEEE-754 single precision floating point represent real numbers with

Given the constraints of the time when the format was conceived, the pdf format has a great design. I think, embedded designers should have a quick look on the PDF format to learn some tricks on how reduce unneeded memory accesses -- it bas

The PDF file format is anachronous. When the format was created, computers only had a few KBs of RAM. Yet the format should be capable of editing documents with thousand of pages. The format solves this issue by delegating the memory manage

A more obscure feature is the uncommon usage of comma operator. We often use the comma operator in variable declaration and in for loops. But it can also be used in any expression. For instance, the next line has a valid C construct: r
